• The wine coaster has a highly detailed basket weave effect which looks very striking, and this quality of workmanship is extremely rare.

This basket weave coaster shows modern silversmithing at its best. The piece is originally a flat piece of silver which is put into a press which 'pierces' out the holes between the weaves. It is then shaped into a circle and soldered. A chaser then applies the details of the basket weave by hand, a painstaking process which is highly skilled. The silver is then turned onto a mahogany wood, after which a silver button is glued in the centre. This silver wine coaster fits a wine bottle and would grace any dining table.
