The Silver Tumbler Cup is one of the most popular drinking vessels today. Its main characteristic being the heavy rounded bottom which enables it to 'right itself' after a knock.
You may also see these lovely things described as Silver Carriage Cups - they were often used when having a drink in a travelling carriage as the liquid would never spill.
The tumbler cup dates back over 350 years, with one of the oldest mentions by the writer Samuel Pepys, who after purchasing some on the 20th October 1664 noted, "Thence home, taking two silver tumblers home, which i have bought."
Few items in life can be so endearing 350 years later. The main reason has to be that a good Silver Tumbler Cup is not only practical, but is incredibly tactile when made from thick sterling silver, just like the ones made for us by Francis Howard of Sheffield.
We sell Silver Tumbler Cups for christenings, as well as gifts for adults who often use them to drink a tipple of whisky or something similar either in the comfort of their home, or in the field...
You can find our Silver Tumbler Cup's in the Silver Drinking Gifts Section of the site.
